History
Founded in 1950 by the Yamakawa Family, in Tokyo, Japan.
Yamakawa Rattan started as a small workshop and was mainly working as a subcontractor for other major Japanese manufacturers. Over time, it quickly grew and eventually became the leading rattan manufacturer in Japan. However, due to the limitations of raw rattan exportation, operations were moved to Indonesia in the early 1990s. Indonesia was chosen not only because of its abundant natural resources but also because of its skilled handworkers, making it the ideal location for production.
